Ed Speleers, the young actor best known for playing the lead in fantasy film Eragon, joined YouthNet as the charity's first ambassador in March 2010.

A digital native who uses the internet to connect with fans via his personal website, EdSpeleers.com, Ed chose to support YouthNet after hearing about its LifeSupport Appeal, which hopes to raise the funds needed to redevelop TheSite.org and revolutionise online support for young people.

In October 2009, Ed attended the launch of the Appeal in London's Living Room, City Hall. In the future, he plans to help promote the charity through media interviews, photo calls, and engaging directly with young people via TheSite.org and EdSpeleers.com

Ed won the lead role in Eragon when he was 17-years-old, beating 180,000 hopefuls to play alongside Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich and Rachel Weisz.

Ed Speleers:

"I'm really enthusiastic about supporting YouthNet, because like the majority of young people, I couldn't imagine life without the internet.

"Online is a great place to find guidance when you need it, but it's really important for young people to find the right advice, which is why TheSite.org is invaluable, and why I want to help make sure it's there for years to come."
